According to Anything But iPod, there’s a bit of mystery surrounding a new player that may or may not be coming from Samsung. The YP-K5, at one time, was on the Samsung Germany site and included pictures and information about the new mp3 player. However, it apparently was removed from the site and never heard of again until Akihabara News got hold of the secret info. Here’s the specs that they scooped:

“The YP-K5 measures 3.85 x 1.87 x 0.74 inches; comes in 1, 2, and 4GB varieties; supports MP3, Ogg, ASF, and WMA files; and utilizes Samsung’s 3D Sound System DNSE (Digital Natural Sound Engine). The more interesting features are what seem to be a large touch screen and some kind of integrated speaker the size of the device itself.”

Supposedly, this player is now being released in Korea, although there is absolutely no mention of it on Samsung’s Korea site. Certainly strange things are afoot. Is this an elaborate hoax or a super secret designer player available only to a few? The large touchscreen certainly looks attractive though. Hopefully, we’ll recieve more news soon.
