Converting TV or Movies to your Video Ipod
4:3 Conversion
Once you have your movie or TV show ready, download Videora Ipod Converter which is FREE only because of Donations. Once this is done istall it, and open it. If your video has a normal aspect ratio (not 16:9) you can click on setup,

The default settings are really good if the aspect ratio is formated for full screen 4:3. If it is go ahead and transcode your first video for the ipod using MPEG-4/320 X 240/1500 kbps stereo/128kbps. here is an example of it done right

16:9 Conversion
Now if your original video has the 16:9 aspect ratio and you follow these instructions you will get a picture like this

If you notice when a 16:9 aspect ratio original is converted, the results make everyone look tall and skinny all squished up together. To solve this problem you have to create a new profile. Once this is done configure it with the same options I have. I named the profile 16:9 for easy reference.

Once this is done go to the convert page. Click transcode new video, choose which video to convert, pick the quality profile in which you just created, and click start. I ended up with this result.

Isn’t that so much better than this

yeah, that looks alot better. Even when the video is squished Steve Carell still has a big nose.
the sound becomes slighty out of sync why is this? its the same with anything i convert in videora
has any one found that playing movies kills the ipod fairly quickly? or is that just mine… ive the ipod 30gb n its battery dies pretty quick with the videos
that’s because you’re watching video. it takes more processing power thus more power being drain thus batteries dies more quickly.
music listening only uses much less power.
NSK,
Seems the audio being out of sync could be a number of things. Check out this thread hopefully you can find some answers.
http://www.pspvideo9.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=245&highlight=audio+sync
Video eats your battery because the hard drive is continiusly spinning and reading for the buffer. For mp3 or audiio, the hard drive reads the file (a couple of megs) and stores it into it’s cache and the hard drive stops spinning thus using less battery power. Makes sense, huh? I could hear my old generation 1 ipod spinup, read the song, then spin down after every song.
yup, I use that convertor (I really use the psp convertor for both the psp and ipod - diff settings though). Works great! Kudos to the coder!
here is a donation link for the authors of the coolest video transcoder for the ipod! http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/donate.html
But even when I’m not watching any videos, the battery seems to die pretty quick.

I thought I was the only one the batteries went out fast on.The box says like 15 hours of battery life.I’m thinking on my 30GB iPod I can watch at LEAST 3 hours of a movie b4 the battery goes out…..no sir.If I watch 3 MINUTES it goes down by a quarter!I just got mine, and it took like an hour or 2 before it says charged.Maybe like someone told me the first time you DO have to charge it for like 14 hours?
I feel your pain Ya Boy. When I first got mine it did the same thing but it was almost like iPod was PRETENDING to be low on battery. It would drop down to about 1 quarter after I watched a show, but once I went to music it’d bump back up to 3 quarters. Try charging it over night a couple times, not just till it says “charged”, but truly over night. Worked for me.
when i convert my videos i downloaded thru limewire and play them back on itunes, i have no audio. why is this? i compared the video requirements to what my converted video was running on, and everything is exact on the converted video so why do i not hear sound? please help me!
go to the videora site .download.read the tutorial.have fun watching your videos
if you are having problems with the video and audio being out of sync, here is what you need to do:
use videora ipod converter
go to “setup” and then “profiles”
choose the profile you are going to use
change the framerate from “input” to “29.97 fps”
this should clear up any audio/video sync problems you’ve been having, it works for me
Hi; I found the info you gave about aspect ratio for conevrting a 16:9 original video extremely valuable and helpful. I have made goo attemps following your instructions and I think I finally got it. But could you please me the exact parameters you used for your options. I cant hardly read the image of the Setup for Videora that you posted.
Looking to hear from you soon

[…] If you have not been to YouTube yet you should check it out. This is a place where users can submit any kind of videos and share them with everyone else. You can find all sorts of videos everything from SNL clips to Ask A Ninja podcasts. Anyways on to the tutorial. There are a couple different ways to do this. If you are using firefox you can download greasemonkey and get a greasemonkey script that puts a “save as” link on the top of the page. If you have no idea what firefox or greasemonkey is,(Firefox = w00t) that is cool to. When you find a video on youtube you like scroll down to the Video URL (Permalink) and there will be a box to the right with the link that you need. Ex: “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcDNXaOda3U” Once you have this you can go to this site javimoya.com which give you a place to insert a couple different links from different sites such as Google, iflims, grinvi, and of course YouTube. Now you have to paste your youtube link into the youtube box. Then click download from youtube and it will put a Video Download link at the top of the page. Right Mouse Click -> Save Link As… -> THIS IS IMPORTANT Change the file extension from .php to .flv you may also change the video name, to keep things organized. Here is a Demo from the authors site showing how to use it. From here there are many different ways to convert your .flv file to whatever format you want. For instructions on converting it to .avi or .mpg check this out: Riva flv encoder. If you want your video in ipod format and you are on a windows pc try this: CinemaForge. This program is easy to use, although it is shareware it has no restrictions. Here is a Demo of how to us it. Once your video is in an mpeg format you can use Videora, where the tutorial is listed here: How to convert TV or Movies to your iPod. There is another program you can use called iTinySoft Total Video Converter which is easier because it can do all of this in one step but it has a nice little advertisement on all of your videos you convert. Used Decrypter then Videora and followed your directions above to the letter for a 16:9 to 4:3 conversion of a DVD “VanHelsing” and itunes would not upload to my 60gig Ipod as “unplayable”???
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hey boomer I am not quite sure what you mean. You followed the directions above for a “16:9 to 4:3 conversion.” Not being mean but just trying to clarify what you are saying. I would love to help you! My tutorial explains how to convert “16:9 video formats to 16:9 ipod video formats” and “4:3 video formats to 4:3 ipod video formats.” First whatever your VanHelsing DVD format is that is what kind of format you will have. If the DVD cover says widescreen you will be transfering everthing in 16:9 aspect ration. If your DVD says full screen you will be using the 4:3 aspect ration. If your lucky you will have a double sided DVD with Full Screen(4:3) on one side and Wide Screen(16:9) on the other, so you can pick which aspect ratio to use. For information High Definition TV is all in 16:9 aspect ration! I would love to help I just need to know excatly how your dvd is formated.
Sorry to be vague…the DVD is 16:9 and I used your exact settings above to transcode in the 320×176 size to fit on the ipod 4:3 screen but ipod rejected it…(I wish it would tell you exactly what setting it didnt like)…anyway I let Itunes convert it which took all night for a 2 plus hour movie.
The settings above worked perfectly to convert some home video I shot in 16:9 but not the DVD?
Any ideas?
Great site BTW!

hi peopl i gust whant to know how to put movies on my ipod it’s a 30gb anywaz cud you put ther or am i gust =wazthing my time
Often times the only reason that a converted movie will not transfer onto the ipod using itunes is that the file name is too long. Dowloaded files often have extensive file names including quality of the video, codecs, episode numbers, etc, so by simply renaming a file to a shorter filename, problem solved and itunes will transfer it right on to your ipod. Good luck.

I don’t totally understand the difference between aspect ratio and video resolutiuon but I tried to convert a video in both cucusoft and videora and kept getting the same “stretch” or “squished up” effect.
Then, I tried your settings above and I got the exact same “stretch” result. My video source has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and a resolution of 640×272.
Then, I set the resolution to 640×272 in cucusoft to match the video source and the result was perfect (no more stretched or squished up faces).
So in your example above, is it the 16:9 aspect ratio that was the problem, or is it that the video resolution of your video source was 320×176? I am just trying to clarify for both myself and for others who might read this

On the “existing Quality Profiles” bar i dont have 16:9 option =S
oh rite ok dont worry bout it
Hi. I’m trying to upload movies to my 30gb. I have downloaded & installed the Videora Free Trial Software, but when I click “Transcode New Video” and attempt to convert my video, there are multiple files to choose from, such as VTS_01, VTS_02, etc. Each of these files are only about 300 mb. A video would be a larger file, right? So how do I know which file is the movie? I think I’m doing something wrong! Could someone please help me out??
hey ive got a dvd of wedding crashers in 16×9 and when i used videora it appears with the black bands at the top and bottom on my ipod. I followed your widescreen settings exactly, and now all i get is the entire picture, with the black bands, is strected to the 16×9 format! how can i get rid of the black bands and just have the video on my ipod with the sides chopped off??
i get the ipod onto itunes and click update and then when i find it on my ipod it is always an audio file and never shows the video. how do i solve this problem
my battery takes a while to die down…maybe cuz mine is the 80gb
whenever i convert something say 20 mins or longer it starts of in sync but as the program or movie progreses the audio and picture becomes out of sync. can anyone help??
When converting video from a dvd using videora, i creates a single file in the output directory. (Even when I select all pertinent files in the video_ts directory of the disc.) When I play this file in I-tunes, it is just the copyright warning at the beginning of the movie - and nothing else. Could this be the result of a copy-potection scheme?
What is actually happening is you are only copying the first of the many files you dropped in there - Try getting this program - to dump your movie to your hardrive in one big chunk Program to download is here - http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm DVDfab (Decrypter 3.0.5.0 ) and make sure that under option before dumping to your hardrive (or decrypting) go to toolbar of program - Tools -> Settings -> IFO Mode tab -> Options box and Make sure you’re in IFO mode and File Splitting is set to ‘None’ in your settings. Once this is done it will create one big IFO and then you can dump that into videora. walla! Enjoy
uh, very very very handy tool. Bring your ipod video to work or school with loads of movies.
Hey! I use DVDfab (Decrypter 3.0.5.0 ) so that I get that one big file, but whenever I use it it stops around 80% and an error sign says that “there is no free space”. I have tried putting files in different locations and when I look at the progress there is plenty of empty space it just wont use it. Please help cause i dont know what is going on!!

Hello, i just downloaded some episodes from Limewire and want to convert them into to MP4 so i can play them on my iPod video.
When i go to transcode the file, it says, “Your converted video could not be created in the specified directory.”
What does this mean?? Can i fix it??
Would be very grateful if anyone could help, thanks.
I have been trying to convert a movie to itunes. When the conversion with videora is finished, it says “Failed to add video to itunes: Your converted video could not be added to your iTunes library.” Why could this be???
